How Encryption Works with Deadman Switches
We use the same encryption architecture as 1Password and Bitwarden, adapted for automated inheritance.
Your Files Stay Encrypted
Files are encrypted in your browser before upload using AES-256-GCM. We never see your data - only you can decrypt it with your password.
Pre-Generated Access Keys
When you create a deadman switch, we generate unique access keys for each beneficiary. These keys are encrypted and stored securely until needed.
Triggered When You're Gone
If you miss your check-ins, the system automatically sends beneficiaries their unique access links. Each link only works for the intended recipient.
Server-Side Protection
Access keys are encrypted at rest using our server encryption. Even with database access, the keys are unreadable without our server secrets.
